Always work to do on the boat

What a great recover today after a mediocre day yesterday. We came out very motivated to do better. In the first race we had a good start at the pin and did a good upwind to round the first weather mark in 2nd position after the tough opponent Marcus Wieser from Germany. Once round the mark we did a fast gype and were able to ride over the german on the way down to the bottom mark. Rounding up in the lead, we could see him getting problems with the jib having to take it down and rehoist with a big loss. The rest of the race we were just able to put a loose cover on our opponents to a great win.

In the second race for the day, the wind kept on being very strong. Even though we had a pretty bad start, we were soon able to split with the fleet and the being able to utilize some great boatspeed to cover up a lot of ground. Coming up to the top mark, we already were up to being third behind the other norwegian boat “Clark Kent” and FIN-49. Once again we were able to do a quick gybe, cover the boat in front and pass on the inside coming in to the bottom mark. Once again we could nurse our lead all the way to the finish line.

The breeze today was very strong and several boats had problems with broken gear. The “Grand Master” Jussi Gullichsen from Finland fell overboard but were recovered by the crew. Marcus Wieser once again had problems with sails and were late to the start of the race and obviously suffered from that.

Racing continues with 2 races tomorrow and one final race on friday.
